CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THIS IS? IT IS APPROX. 20" wide. It rolls, but it doesn't close tightly. It was found in an old hotel. Very heavy steel, but inside is brass. Looks like something was used to keep it closed while it turns. The whole thing turns when you roll it. Can someone tell me what this could be? A coin cleaner? A jewelry tumbler?
UPDATE: ONLY THE WHEELS ARE MAGNETIC. THE BOX IS VERY HEAVY. THE WHEELS ARE STATIONARY. THERE IS ONLY ONE HOLE (Possibly for a handle) ON ONLY ONE WHEEL. THE OTHER WHEEL DOES NOT HAVE THAT HOLE.
thanks if you can tell me what it is!
Wow! That is a strange one. It looks to be brass with a copper lining and steel wheels. Does a magnet stick to the box?
Are you sure the wheels are fixed to the box or maybe they once turned and now just stuck? Can you post a photo of the end showing the wheel, looks like a hole that something may have screwed into??
you may be right; part of a tumbler. Was there possibly a compressible seal that fit around the opening where the halves come together. This container part would sit on the motorized section. Most newer on open from the end.
HI! THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR INPUT!! Here is my husband's response: Yes, there is an old gasket. He does believe it is copper clad on inside of brass. On the wheel it looks like there was a handle at one time, but the wheels are def. stationary to the basket. Hope we can find what this was, and again, it was in an older hotel, so I'm sure they used it for something. Thankyou all!! I will post another pic of the wheel side shortly.
I added more pics...please note only wheels are magnetic. Nothing else is. It is very heavy. There is only one whole on the wheel where a handle could have been. The wheels are stationary, so if it rolls, the box rolls with it.
