You might not think of this heater as being cozy and charming but it is--and it heats very well. In case the brochures are too small to read, Welsbach initiate some good developments in the field of heating. Of course, they boasted (1) a no-match lighting system, (2) a special burner to produce the most heat from the gas consumed, (3) clay burner caps that did not corrode, (4) a protective wire gauze screen to keep dust from clogging burners, (5) a metal reflector behind the glowers to prevent the heater from absorbing heat itself, (6) clay glowers that can withstand the most intense amount of heat, (7) a choke to enrich the gas mixture for easy lighting, and (9) a well designed, flu connection to vent the unit.

Can I still use a Welsbach stove today? Do I need to worry about Carbon Monoxide?
      They sure are beautiful

Diana, thank you. Sorry, I was off a couple days. This heater is fully vented. Fumes are drawn up and out the fireplace. If installed correctly and not damaged, it should work fine for you. In Pasadena, there's Castle Green (a turn-of-the-century hotel turned condos)--a great many residents still have and use their fireplace stoves.

My parents have one of these space heaters, it has one cracked tile, otherwise in great condition. Do you have a source for replacement ceramics. the model # on the back is 1203 can you guesstimate a value?
      thanks

I hope you will have some information on where/how to get new "glowers" the heat tiles. I have this exact model and need to get replacements for broken burners. Thanks

I purchased a Welsbach heater in Canton Texas at the Trade Days and need to find replacement heat tiles as mine is missing one and another is broken. Do you know where I might order them?
