Found this neat 6" glass mushroom cluster at our local GW for a buck fifty. The largest cap is hollow opaque white glass with a brown swirl. The two bottom ones are solid white glass. I thought they were interesting and it had a fancy gold label taped over on the bottom. Couldn't read it at the time because it has very small gold on gold embossed print. Well I got it home thinking maybe Italian but no...it's Mexican ! The label says "Cristales De Chihuahua" Hand Crafted Glass. Not much at all about them online. There is a factory in Juarez that gives tours while the craftsmen work. So I guess it's a tourist souvenir. Not sure of the date either, but still an interesting piece. -Mike-
Very beautiful Mike!!!!!!
Cool! Colours look great with that shape. Different from the recycled Mexican glass I know.
Your op shop sounds like paradise!!
Thanks for the loves everyone :).... As for our thrifts ,when there's nothing great at least there's something unusual.
So much Awesomeness in this piece.
I know I'm always seeing things that aren't there but look at this from your page of thumbnails, it resembles an eagle ;)
I really need to find a shroom as awesome as this one for my kitchen. I looooooove mushrooms... sautéed, deep fried, simmered in sauces. Love 'em!
Same here Aim :) all of the above yummy !!
Mike, I have a wonderful recipe for portobello mushroom burgers. It really does have a beefy taste. We love them.
I've had portobellos with a steak once at a restaurant.Very tasty and they did go well with the beef. Really not a big beef person, more a chicken and fish person. but every once and a while I like a good steak :)
