This Micro Mosaic 14K brooch was one of my first posts on CW more than 3 years ago now. And it's one of my favorites.
The tesserae are very tiny and are almost perfect. The brooch has one little hallmark on the pin (see photograph). I think to recognize the old Vatican gold mark but am I right??
I know this brooch was a wedding present for a fresh married bride given by her husband and bought in Italy or Switserland at the end of the 19th century.
Could anybody tell me if I'm right about the mark please?? And what kind of folk dress this lady is wearing and period? I suppose around 1850??
