    1960 BSA bicycle

I bought this bike as a basket case but.... around 30 years ago the owner coated it in some kind of oil {possibly engine oil} and therefor all the chrome was protected for all those years ! I ended up just restoring the Frame including the pin striping and decals and polishing all the chrome . The bearings were all gunged up with old grease so I replaced all the bearings/brake pads/ chain. The bike has a sturmey archer 3speed hub and a front dyno-hub powering the front head lamp and rear lamp. I also fitted a period Lucas Cyclometer {measures the mileage covered} running off the front wheel. The project took me a couple of months a few hours at a time. A bicycle is a great project for anyone to take on .

      Gorgeous and well restored.
Your next BSA project should have an engine in it!

Gorgeous. The tyres are beautiful too. Are these the original ones?

Thanks for the compliments! The tyres are new raleigh record but very similar to the originals, The originals were all black but i liked the look of the white walls. These tyres are available in black or with an amber or white wall and dont break the bank.

The tyres are perfect. I am restoring a 1951 Phillips Ladies bicycle and I chose 28" X 1,1/2" Schwalbe Delta tyres in Creme color. I don't want to make it a true restoration, just want it to have that classic look.

mcheconi, the schwalbe delta is the best looking retro tyre out !!! I just didn't want to take the originality away . If I was doing it my way I'd go the same as you :)

You did the right thing. I didn't know about these Raleigh tyres by the time I was looking for an option for my project. I followed the style of the bikes shown in this blog:

I was looking for the looks of these italian bicycles:
