Looking for someone who knows antique hardware. From my research I know my property was a farm back in the 30's and 40's. Then it was an auto body or a mechanic in the 70's. This looks old to me, it was in one of the many "garbage heaps" on the property. Everytime I dig for good soil something like this turns up.
Any hardware or tool people out there!? Thanks!
Looks like rust to me & I'm an expert in that field.
lol very true.
Variations on a theme: http://inteli.com/limb-riser.html scroll threw and look at the similarities of these basic components. All things that are handy on a farm/garage and all the gray areas.

Pretty rough shape but resembles an adjustable emergency brake clevis from the late 40's or 50's.
In that case you will never know what you may find. Before the move we lived on top of a old tip & found a turtle in perfect conditions which was only dirty & looked to be almost brand new & many old bottles, from inkwells to house hold goodies of many forms.
When I said emergency brake I was talking today. This would have attached to a hand brake. Some of us remember when a long lever was squeezed and pulled for a brake. Hand brakes were used on cars, trucks and farm equipment. The ring would have had two cables attached to it, one going to each wheel. The other end had a trunnion that attached to the hand lever and could be adjusted. The U-bolt was mounted to a frame cross member. They were about as reliable as a politician.
lol, thanks fhrj2 for the info. I would think it could be for a piece of farm equipment?? We are finding a lot of old tractor parts and other farm equipment parts....at least I think thats what they are.
