I bought this from a dealer in Edinburgh, late 2013 and it is in working condition.

It was manufactured between 1954-1955, according to Barrie Smith's book 'SMITHS DOMESTIC CLOCKS' Second Edition.

I will be uploading another 2 of these Smiths automaton alarm clocks today. One of mine and one of a friend's for reference material and for general interest.

I also remember a school friend bringing in her Smiths automaton alarm which had a ballerina as I remember it, but can't remember which part was automated. You can see one though on Pinterest website.

    Regards.

Perpcal, This is a variant I'm not readily familiar with, but Smith's produced a lot of clocks not seen here in the US. I'm sure same applies with some of the US mfg's clock where you are. I have a musical alarm by Smith's depicting Red Riding Hood and Big Bad Wolf, the alarm feature works off a music box style 12 note mechanism. only one I've every seen here. I'll try and post this up coming weekend. Thanks again for sharing these clocks, I've enjoyed seeing them.

      Hi Kerry

Right, I reckon this is a rarer one. I'm sure Len has another, better one in his glass cabinet at Shapes, Edinburgh, Scotland. He may have sold it by now, don't know.

The musical alarm you mention, I've seen 2 for sale recently across here, but down south in England, UK. I made enquiries about one of them and got extra pics, but didn't get either of them and put in a half-hearted bid on one.

      Cheers.
