At last! I have the very same ring and I am still curious about it myself.

I do know a few things though.

I found my ring on a flea market in Maastricht, The Netherlands. The seller knew absolutely nothing about it; sold it to me as "pretty, no?"

Pretty indeed. And very intriguing. It looks old, handmade and has "PARIS FRANCE REVOLUTION" carved in it.
But somehow, the ring just didn't make sense to me.
Why, if the French Revolution was a civil one, all about overthrowing rich rulers, would someone forge or wear a ring this rich looking?

A few years ago I took my ring to an appraisal at the Dutch Antiques Road Show.
I have had three different experts looking at it. The first, a jeweller, told me what stone was in it, but - sorry, don't remember the name. I do remember her saying it was an actual gem, but not a particular valuable one.

The ring itself is handmade and probably bronze. There's no makers mark or inscription except for the carved words "PARIS FRANCE REVOLUTION".

Now, about that revolution; it's almost certainly not from that time. That's both revolutions: 1789-1799 and 1814-1830. The experts couldn't agree about maybe being as old as 1870, when revolutions were still happening in France. The other two felt more comfortable dating it much younger.

One of them suspected the ring was probably made somewhere during the 60's. And not in France, but the US.

His best guess was that this ring belonged to some sort of gentlemans club or underground society that had their members have it.
This group was (or is?) probably inspired by the French Revolution. He didn't know any name or group to search for, but had seen somewhat similar rings in the US before used during the 60's.

      And that's all I know.

I hope you read my post, even though it's 6 years old. Maybe you know more about it yourself? If not, I hope you can tell me where you found this piece.

Good luck with it, it's a beautiful ring!

      Cheers!
