Found this at our local Salvation Army thrift. I do find nice things here every once and a while, but it's nothing like the newer store I usually go to. This 11" bottle vase caught my eye because of it's shape. The design is rather bland color wise. It's mostly black and grey with a bit of orange and rust in the flowers. The writing on the side intrigued me even more. I'm hoping someone can help translate all or part of it. There is an older style paper label on the bottom that says it's made in Taiwan. That's probably what the writing says on the vase too ....lol. I hope not ! Sometimes it's a poem or a description of the design maybe even the artist signature. It all appears hand painted with a bit of vintage age to it maybe 40' to 60's would be my guess. -Mike-
Many thanks to George (geo26e) for the translation on the vase. It's quite beautiful in it's simplicity. -Mike-
Right to left : The 4 large characters means 'single branch (or stock) in lonely water.
Middle : In middle of Winter

Ok Mike, I'll try to translate, they are ancient style writing so with my very limited knowledge, can only get perhaps 70% of full meaning!
