From my mother's collection. She acquired her pieces over her lifetime beginning in the 192's from many places beginning with her birthplace, Dickson, Tennessee, and then from New York City where she ran away to as a young girl and later from the Midwest where we lived. Might be a centennial souvenir.

my 'guess' is this is likely a reproduction piece made my Kemple Glass, which came into being in 1945; check closely on the back to see if marked with a 'K', tho' not everything was marked. It appears that this plate was first used in the election of 1908 with Taft and Bryan, as a likeness of either of them was originally in the center of the plate. Kemple Glass purchased many molds from other companies and reproduced many items like this in milk glass.

here's one of the better online images I was able to find, but no attribution. The 48 stars 'may' lend some indication on the time line of the plate, as the 48th state was added during Taft's presidency. I also ran across one of these plates with a scene of Niagara in the center as a souvenir plate.
