Attached are photos of a small, folding, game table found many years ago in the house I grew up in. We moved into a house built in 1875 on the main street of Matteson, Illinois. The house had originally been a harness shop owned by Henry Gross known to have volunteered as a saddler of Captain Julius Jaehne, Company C of the 16th Regiment in the Illinois Cavalry. My mother claimed the table was a civil war officer’s game table but I have no idea if it is.
What a great game table :) my husband made a very lovely chessboard when he was in school.
Thank-you.
