We found this old tool in my recently deceased Grandfather's house and don't know what it is. There are 2 stampings on it, one is the patented date of July 1, 1879 and the other looks like a hand stamped number 136. Other than that there are no markings on it. It is approx. 5 inches long and has been a large family debate over what this is and I'm not sure we really want to know what it is because there are at least 10 different ideas and everyone in my family is always correct, there may or may not be some money riding on it!! Any help would be appreciated, I am the first to take pictures and post for help so hopefully we can figure it out.thanks
I can't see the end real good but three things come to mind and they are usually a set. A channeler, creaser or a strip cutter. All were used in leather work especially things like a saddle maker but also other leather work. My two cents.
That's it! A channeler, thank you we were close but just didn't know. Thanks again
