VINTAGE 1970'S INUIT AUTHENTIC carved soapstone of a Seal. Has the Canada Art Eskimo tag. Signed in Syllabics on the bottom. Positive the Dated is 1974. I did find out it is supposedly made by INUIT in Arctic Quebec (Povungnituk). About 5 inches long by 3.5 inches tall. You can tell this is an older piece as the Hang Tag DOES NOT have any UPC code on it. I saw newer Hang Tags now do.

Anyone else know who the maker is?

Or can read those Syllabics symbols on the bottom? Anyone......??

Any additional info is greatly appreciated!! THANKS

I got the above from a site that translates Inuit and they came up with Timothy, I added the question marks. The chart does actually list the symbols as ti-mu-ti

Here's a piece that I have Rose with all the research I did. Mine is by Isa Smiler a well known artist but not one of his more valuable pieces. Most of it came from this site below. You can e mail Christa Ouimet director of the Inuit art department at Waddington's in Toronto. She can help ID and value your piece. You can contact her from the site below:
