This is a very nicely hand painted piece of lambeth Doulton , it has clematis flowers on one side and I think a different sort of flowers on the other the sides are patterned & painted with a blue which really stands out , it is nearly 8" high 6" across the paints I think are enamel and are really life like, I dont know much about who painted this moonflask/vase but they've done a beautiful job, it was made around the 1880s has some initials on the bottom and the circle with lambeth doulton faience stamped inside and 1881 stamped beneath..
I bought this at a boot sale around 15 years ago and the rim was chipped so because it looked so nice had it repaired , it cost £3 & THE repairs cost £45 so to me still a bargain ;-)
All comments greatfully recieved especially if you can tell me more about it ;-)
Hi there. How lovely, great purchase and you will not ever regret the investment.
Can you possibly when you have some time take a photo of the marks as I can't see them at all.
There should be two, one the Doulton or royal Doulton Mark and the Lambeth Mark...plus some hand penned numbers and if lucky some hand written initials...if you can either tell me what's written but post the picks of the two marks ill point you in the right direction. I collect a little bit of items that were made in the same factory but by a different Doulton artist. :)
Just listed it again with clearer pics.. hope this helps .. many thanx:-)
Check out the other faience piece that appeared two days ago.

Thanx vetrao50 I did see that one thats why I put mine on .. cheers
What I see is 43 and underneath AG.
Alberta L Green?
Alberta L Green on the doulton site has the nearest looking mark AG ..
thanks Vetraio
I havnt heard back yet from AnneLanders sounds like she will know;-)
Thanx all:-)
Hi there, if this is the new photo I will have to wait until I access my laptop tomorrow, as they still look very fuzzy and dirty on the IPad ....I have a suggestion, well two.
Can you tell me if there is one mark that has a lion wearing a crown or just lion or no lion...then is there a made in England or just England or nothing...then does it say Doulton or royal Doulton...I assume it has Lambeth word? Are any of the logos done in linked ovals, sort of like paper clips being linked to make a circle...
Your vase is beautiful...
And is the AG written in blue or black fountain pen? Is there a hand written I or II with a strike through it...I'll pay Alberta as I think she painted lots of flowers but there was also another AG artist, Alison. Forgotten her surname...it will make this earlier than I thought if it's Alberta. So let's here about the marks and I'll date it for you to a span of 9 years ish...possible 1877 on....
Oh, the other suggestion, does the vase have a clear glaze on the base? If so grab some pink chalk and gently draw over the marks to help them stand out...if it's not shiny, dont do it as it's stoneware and it's porous and will be stuck there for life...!
Until tomorrow surf. Oh thanks Vetraio50 for your expertise..Anne
And tomorrow when I'm at the other computer I can post the marks I think it is....you could also get some paper and a pencil and trace the marks and scan those...:)
Ok
Like I suggest smack bang think it's 1877 or so.
I need to still know does it have England on it.
If not it will be 1873-1891. If it has England it will be 1891-1914.....I'll look up pattern tomorrow but Primroses jump to mind...goodnight...
Lol and finally does it have a lion anywhere with or without crown?
Hi AnnLanders,
the pot has a circle on the bottom with doulton lambeth faience and what looks like 4 Ds -left, right, top, bottom making a pattern inside the same circle ..it looks like it was stamped twice with the same mark..
under this circle is has the numbers -1881 .
the number 43 is stamped into the clay above the pen signature which looks like AG or AC in monogramme the letters joined, also the bottom is not glazed.
I have another listing for this pot with clearer marks as I couldnt work out how to add pics to this listing..
many thanks for your intrest im really looking forwards to hearing from you again:-)
Sorry also there is no England mark on it,,

Beautiful painting, love the style and colors!
This is just amazing! I see the other vase had some sadly repaired cracks in it, but understand that depending on it's rarity, it's better to have one a bit cracked than not at all.
Good that you got yours repaired. It's just beautiful!!!
Thanks katherinscollections for your love and kind comments :-)
