A really interesting use and combination of fibre arts have been used to create this piece. Most viewers comment that it has a sad, funereal feel. I'm aware of the Victorian practice of mort photography but was the creation of these sorts of pieces also a practice? Or could this simply be a sweet and happy depiction?
I wonder if this is Victorian. They did a lot of this kind of thing in the 40/50s. Often with older materials. I'm sorry to say that I also find this sort of off putting but also sweet. I couldn't have it in my house but appreciate it. Does that make sense?
Makes perfect sense! I feel the same - it's not on display. Thank you for your thoughts.
It must have been a Kit that you purchased at the time, since I posted a few frames last year with this same baby's face. RER(BOB)
