I bought this ring because it puzzled me. It is quite different. Its patina makes me curious. It seems to be some sort of peasant folk ring. First I was thinking that in the past, people sometimes had jewelry with clappers and pendants for protection against evil forces (trolls), and that maybe this strange ring was created due to such superstitions. That's when I was still thinking Europe...

Valentino97 put my thoughts in another direction/directions :-). I think she´s right, it is a toering - it explains the strange shape of the actual ring and the size. I´m still searching for information as I haven´t found a ring that matches. This type of jewellry with bells/balls can be found in several places, but from the photos I´ve seen this far and by looking at the shape of the "bells" I think the closest guess is India. I´ve seen photos of Rajasthan tribal jewelry and tribal ethnic antique jewelry from India and it looks very similar. They show toerings with bells/balls like this that are open in the back of the ring. I have a triangular pendant with the same kind of bells on it. I will post it Another time. Thankyou Valention97 for all your help! Thankyou darladebo for your insight on Kuchi jewellry, which I will explorer some more. And thanks to everybody who helped with this.

    Thankyou :-)

Thankyou Valentino97! That's a completly different part of the world than I was thinking off. So maybe it isn't old then? Or I guess it could be anyway, it feels old. I think it is bronze rather then silver. I don't know if I can get hold off your book over here, I will try. Would like to see a photo. Interesting! Thankyou for your help inte right direction. If you feel certain only by looking at my photo then I can mark this as solved, what do you think?

Playin with words can set you off in strange directions...did you read what the add said?

I agree that the closest guess is India or so. When you said Pakistan I now realized I have a friend that I could ask. Thanks!

Hi this is in itself a great piece .This is a Ring may be put on toe or finger.Generally this would be put on the finger halfway between knuckle and back of fingernail.Belly dancers wear these. The the ring has lost its shape and you just need to reform it , yet some were attached to the finger tambourines and held them in place on the finger. They are usually made of "old silver" from Rajasthan India, called Kuchi bells. Kuchi was name for afghan nomads,Ghilzai tribal confederacy. Now in chinese Kuchi meaning open mouth as these bells have.price usually starting at around $ 80.00 depending on age and condition. So you have a "Old silver" Tribal Kuchi bells dance ring.

Thankyou darladebo for your answer and research! Yes, you're confirming the posibility that Valentino97 and myself has been looking at. With my own research I found jewellry with bells like this from different countries around India and I had the feeling this looked more like jewellry from India. Looking at Kuchi I see the similarity. I guess you can't expect to find a ring exactly the same as these more than likely was handmade. With your answer, Valentino97s and my own search I think I can mark this as solved, it's most likely an Indian tribal ring. Thankyou to you, Valentino97 and everybody who've tried to figure this out!
