I never collected or purchased these Jack-In-The-Pulpit vases before but when I saw this one at a Nostalgia/Antique Show, I found the color to be quite unusual so I purchased it to find out more info. about it. The color is a Tangerine/Red with wisps of white streaks/clouds throughout. There is an outer layer of clear glass which is clearly seen in the base. It has a rough pontil, a flat bottom rim and the under-base is concave. It measures 8" tall and 4 1/4" at the widest. Any JIP experts out there. Thanks RER(BOB)
Thank you Manikin, mikelv85, SEAN68 and aghcollect for the love. BOB
Thank you unique123 ans Moonstonelover21 for the love. BOB
Lovely vase and I am pretty sure it is mid 60s Japanese. Don't cringe OK!
I have seen these marked Norcrest and Kreiss but these are just importers names. I don't know which glass factory actually produced these.
Here is a similar one:http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/vintage-Blue-with-White-Swirl-Glass-Art-Vase-Handmade-in-Japan-/251497487419?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a8e6b1c3b
you are pretty on the money racer, for mine its the inclusion of the black at the top of the mouth, the very bright bright colours and the base being raised and not flat...
Bob it is beautiful however. Don't be stressed over the Japanese make. More and more true collectors of fine glass and pottery are realising just how beautiful some of their work is...their Nipon Moriage and beaded work is amazing, their early Noritake painted porcelain puts the Germans and French to shame, well nearly...I truly believe Nipon in 25 years is will go crazy with collectors as a lot of their work clicks over the 100 year mark...and people as populations grow need more makers available to cover the demand..
Your JIP vase stands tall against the works of Fenton and the likes...its sharp lines are fabulous in the flower...
Thank you racer4four and AnneLanders for your input and comments. That blue one in the link is almost identical to mine and I agree that the Japanese provenance would be correct after seeing your comments. Thank you also kerry10456, tom61375, vetraio50, geo26e, smiata and antiques-in-nj for the Love. RER(BOB)
