*** Update - with some help from Tallcakes, it's been determined that this is an Early American Glass bowl by Higbee. Still have not found the exact match to determine it's purpose. Anyone know what this was used for what it was called?
Original question:
This piece is something I unpacked that my Mother had given me many years ago. I am pretty good at researching and always finding what I am looking for in glass. This one has me stumped. It is avery large, very HEAVY 10 1/2" high (with lid on) and 10 1/2" wide from outside rim to outside rim and 5 1/2" from inside "rim". I did find a patent from 1906 (Early American), for a Sanitare bowl on chataboutdg.com, that is VERY close to the pattern, and style of this bowl Added to pics above). The difference is the size of the inside rim and the fact that there are no glass inverts to hold large spoons. Can anyone help please? Possible Heisey original Colonial.

Additionally, the bowl weighs 8 lbs, has 10 panels, on the bowl, on the foot of the bowl, on the lid, and on the finial.
might be by McKee or another EAPG maker but need a clearly focused side profile image to see overall shape (not at an angle but straight side profile)

clear pics would certainly help in this case as there are so many similar colonial patterns; can't make out fine details of the finial in the first pic. Leaning towards John Higbee and Paden City from what I can make out.

TallCakes, I added the patent pic for the Sanitare bowl, I will post a pic of my bowl (so you can see depth better) as soon as camera operates properly....
I found the Sanitare earlier and noted the differences. Like I mentioned, there are numerous Colonial patterns that are all very similar. The finial on this seems to maybe be like Higbee & Paden City but cannot see the details.

the first pic to too blurry to make out the finial and at an angle; a focused image even with the class to show the profile and have the finial in focus would help. Still thinkin' Higbee and Paden City (Colonial / Estelle). You really don't need the catalog image as it isn't a match.

Replacements has a very badly focused lid as well which is no help. From what I can find there are some variances in the finial. Best I can tell it does looks like Colonial by John B. Higbee Glass Co. (1910) and was reproduced as #205 Estelle by Paden City Glass Mfg. Co. (#205, 1919)

OK Tallcakes (and anyone else that may be able to help identify. I just updated the pictures. This time I think they are much clearer, they include the foot, the finial, and a picture from above. Tallcakes, I looked at the others you recommended, and am still thinking Heisey Colonial?? For multiple reasons, the detail and other pictures I have pulled up (a lot of 8-panel by Heisey), but I could be wrong, Maybe this is a crushed fruit compote (similar to the sanitare bowl, I don't know). Unfortunately, while taking pictures, I noticed a flea-bit chip on the finial :/
there are literally dozens of these colonial patterns by various makers and Heisey probably has more than a dozen varied colonial patterns as well. I looked at many of the Heisey colonials and didn't see one that matched. Here's a catalog page of Higbee Colonial showing the matching finial; this is the closest match I've run across.

Thanks TallCakes, I think you are right with Higbee!!! Thank you, I just would like to figure out the purpose of the bowl now, I don't see one that matches it, only the pattern, any thoughts???
from the size it is most likely a covered compote; tho' in some catalogs also named footed bowls. These are fairly standard serving pieces with most table service patterns in EAPG.
