Wish you had given a scale on this. It appears to be what we called in Jamaica in the latter last century a "Q of rum" as the empties of a certain size liquor bottle were saved & refilled with rum (usually "John Crow Battie" or super octane rum) for a lifetime of the bottle or owner. An island friend who lived in NYC & his wife disapproved of alcohol, told me his father was visiting & came in one nite drunk & fell on his butt with a "Q" in his back pocket. He said his father reached back at his butt & felt something wet. He proclaimed, "God,- I hope that's blood!" True story.

This small vile is similar to the size of the bottles on airlines, it was empty when I received it. My great-grandmum is from Scotland and loved her medicines, as only she would have called them.

If that small, it isn't a "Q". I don't drink hard liquor but the "Q" meant a quarter of some thing. Maybe 1/4 liter or a fifth but not that small. A "Q" fit easily in a back pocket. Well, I tried.
