Haven't been finding much of anything the last few days. So I was on my way to the Goodwill in North Olmsted (Cleveland area) and saw signs for a huge yard sale sponsored by the "Westlake Historical Society" They were still unpacking so I decide to stop on my way back home. Not really my thing as there is always way too much commotion and limited parking for these types of things. Still I found a spot to park and walked around the maze of boxes. Everything was still wrapped in newspaper and people were rummaging through the boxes. Some things were on tables but a lot was just strewn on plastic tarps on the grass. They had pictures in the middle and this caught my eye. It's painted on a heavy brown paper. The paint is thick like a gouache or tempra and applied heavily probably with a large stiff brush. It is signed but I'm not really sure what it says. The frame is black with a black mat and was framed by an art store in Lakewood Ohio that's no longer in business. Just thought it was interesting and I liked the style and technique. I think it has a Roman gladiator look to it.
One of the ladies came up and informed me that it was a donation sale. Forget the prices grab a box fill it up and then donate what you feel your selections are worth ! She also said there was a lot more coming tomorrow and if you don't see anything today make sure and stop back 9 -5 tomorrow. I'm definitely going back tomorrow ! -Mike-
I know...lol Can't wait to see what's there tomorrow. They need to unpack and unwrap a ton of stuff and then put it away at night. What a job ! Hope it's not as windy tomorrow it was a bit chilly today, at least it wasn't raining.
lol......I'm expecting it to be twice as crowded tomorrow icollect especially if the weather is really nice.
Depends on how good it is. I found some very strange tasting things passing as baked goods in the past. I let the cat smell it if she walks I don't eat it.....lol
