I found this necklace some months ago. Its one HUGE bakelite centerbead and a matching bakelite screw lock and the other beads are all glass. Its not a long necklace, more like a choker lenght. The center bead is really big: about 3,5 cm, (+/- 1,4 inches). You could compare it to the egg of a dove. I put a chocolate egg next to it to give you an idea. (The chocolate egg dissapeared soon after) :-)
The color of the bakelite is called tortoise.
Anyway, I m not sure about this necklace. Could it be original like that? I must say I have never seen anything like this. Its really well made, and the one who made it put a lot of effort into it. I put some matching bangles next to it.
So, what do you think? Old or not?
@ Nutsabotas: I know it shouldn't matter but I m really curious and I always want to know the age of my stuff.
@ Val: thank you very much for your opinion. I think you are spot on about the age of it. I visited a flea market myself today and I only found one MOP star of bethlehem without any findings for one euro. There was some bakelite: a necklace and two earrings...but the seller thought it was amber and her prices were high. I didnt feel like educating her and still pay more than I normally would...-sigh-
Thanks for the love Val, DrFluffy, geo26, racer4four, vetraio50, kerry104, kyratango, nutsabotas, aghcollect and Moonstonelover for loving all my bakelite jewelry!
