I have a weakness for anything silver. I saw this pin in the store for a while; nobody seemed to want it. Although I am not Scottish, I had to have it because it appeared to be well made and the price was low. It has three marks, two are hard to read and one is a thistle. I assume the thistle stands for Scotland. It is also marked with the initials JF. I believe these initial could stand for John Fraser, a Scottish silversmith who was active from 1942 -1969.

    Thanks for looking:)

The thistle stands for Edinburgh. Your date estimate makes sense because in 1975 they stopped using the thistle and started using the rampant lion. One hallmark should be the date letter if you could get a clearer image I could help.

BHock45, thanks so much for your help. I have a different pin that I believe to be Scottish but it doesn't have the thistle mark. I was really confused but now it makes sense to me. I will post it now.

Yeah so am I it's nice knowing something about something you own. I will have to get around to taking some more photos to put down. Had a bit of luck the other day getting a couple of items. I will have to down load them from the camera & show them.

Thanks & so do I I'm off to the markets today but from what I have seen in the past it's new items. But I have a relative that makes didgeridoos & when I was last there we brought a returning boomerang & some clapper sticks. At least I know they are original & from my clan. Just nice to have might show one day even if they are new just proud to own

Zowie, I am lost. I know what a boomerang is, but I have now idea what a didgeridoo or a clapperstick could be. I guess I will search the Internet and educate myself.
I wish you a wonderful weekend and look forward to your postings of didgeridoos and clapper sticks :)

Okay I'll see if I can help a didgeridoo you blow through & make music females are not suppose to use one. The clapper sticks are also musical instruments that you clap together & not all boomerangs return in this case mine does. Will have to take photo's of them as the last two I have just brought & haven't taken photos of any as yet. I tried to put some pictures down today but at this stage I'm having no luck it goes through the motions but will not open the picture. Thanks for the well wishes for the weekend I'm hoping yours is as safe & as good as mine has been. Take care to you & yours. I had a comment the other day about making friends in Australia with CW's here to get together & meet up. I don't think they understand how big Australia really is. As I said it has nothing to do with friendships a lot to do with politeness & learning I do not care what part of the world someone comes from we all share a interest & if we can have a joke & help each other out more the better. I must be thin skinned as it did hurt a tad.
