I picked this item up at a flee market. The owner said it belonged to her mother, when she was alive, and that she was afraid of this item. When I asked about this statue the woman said it was a voodoo item. With some of the searching I performed, I believe this item is an African or New Guinea fertility object, due to the gourd design and the fishtail-like covering of the organ. I cannot determine the gender of the human figure but I assume it is male. This item is not magnetic, it appears to show exposed bronze-like material in the innermost area, which may be the receiver for a rod or staff.
I am trying to identify this item. All comments are welcome. Thank you for reading.
