I found this item while metal detecting near an old Indian Wars fort. At first I thought it was a real pistol handle, then I thought it might be part of a sword hilt. Now I'm not so sure it isn't an old cast iron toy pistol. I was quite rusted and I put it in an electrolysis vat for several days. The results were very exciting as the absence of the corrosion revealed startling details.
If anyone knows what this might be, I would be most appreciative of any and all information. Thanks.
Also, as indicated by the orange arrow, I believe I can make out the letters S H if that is any help.
Ar 1st glance, I thought maybe a saw handle but too ornate for that.
think you may be right about the cast iron cap pistol; this could be part of the pistol grip. I think I'd remove the wire. How about a photo of the other side and measurement?
Still a bit ornate for a gun grip, even a toy. That's the only weak reason for me not concurring with current opinion. Still thinking on it.
