A couple different War items. First item is an old Chocolate Box with a War Scene Battle on it. This appears to be quite old. How many times would one see this type of choc Box when handing out Chocolates to kids?? All appears to be original but can find no markings at all......?
Second......Are just *1994* Souvenir Porcelain Mugs for the 50th Anniversary of Normandy June 6, 1944 in remembrance. Not too often you see Mug with a Military Scene on them.
Just thought these were kinda Neat.....and different.....and things among all my stuff here ((( LOL )))
Gotta love "stuff" when it's like this!
Thanks....as you can tell..............I have LOTS of stuff
LOL
Chocolate box looks like Shorts Sunderland flying boats which were used as submarine hunters to protect the Atlantic convoys, I assume they are not attacking the ships below. Lovely image.
The mug I would say was purchased in one of the many souvenir shops in towns along the Normandy coast near to the landing beaches, probably in Arromanches or Saint Mère église. The sense of history when you visit the beaches in incredible, there are so many reminders of the 6th June still visible and so many cemeteries in the area, both Allied and Axis, it really makes the hairs stand on end.
