Everywhere I went today I found something interesting. This little amphora is from GW. I don't know if it's real old but it sure looks close to this one. ( http://www.timelineauctions.com/lot/syrian-style-glass-amphora/19126/) . The yellow zig-zig pattern is very intricate. There is a crack in one handle and the bottom looks like it's ball finial has broken off. It could be where the piece was attached to the blow pipe but I'm not sure. Kind of an unusual thing to find at a thrift store. -Mike-
Note: Found this awesome little brass stand with three ram's heads to hold my amphora the day after I bought it. It's just big enough that it holds it upright... Perfect ! -Mike-
Mike you either have fantastic thrifts or an excellent eye, probably both!
The things you find!
I think this is pretty neat but now you need somewhere to place it...always a problem with pointy bottoms lol.
Thanks Karen:)...... We do have some great places. Sometimes you can find little wire stands they use for votive candles that work nicely for pieces like these.
Can't believe I found this brass stand today. It had a small glass votive candle holder in it but it fits and holds the amphora upright and compliments it perfectly. Love the 3 ram's heads with the pad feet !
