This brooch is beautifully-made, and one can expect no less from Kenneth Jay Lane in the sixties. It features a Pegasus motif; a winged horse! The body of the pegasus is of an artificial glass lapis lazuli that is very vibrant, while the eye is a single navette emerald cabochon. The brooch is further accented with stars along the neck, and rhinestones on the wings. The pegasus is plated in gold and silver, and it has stars scattered throughout the face. Signed "K.J.L." at the back; one of the oldest marks to be used.
@Ms.CrystalShip Thank you for your kind words! I haven't been posting because I have been moving around a lot, but I recently settled and will be slowly posting again eventually :)
Hi Eileen @Ms.CrystalShip! I can't tell you much unless I see a photo of the hallmark itself, but I do believe if there are no copyright marks accompanying it and if the piece isn't too perfect, you should be seeing the real deal! Good luck!
Early Kenneth jay Lane is awesome. Reading his book, he was so creative! Looking forward to your future posts. Best, Maureen
