This piece on stoneware is 13" high 5"across ringed/grooved bottom to top glazed In a greeny brown tan, it is marked on the base "Donald Tapster Scarborough June 1949 " ive tried to find out about donald tapster but cant seem to find him on the net , the only thing that pop up is tapster ale Canada, so could this be an ale bottle ??
I think the top opening is too small for a vase ..but looks like you could cork it??
I love the shape & style of this one , it was picked up at a local pottery for a few pounds , they said they had it for quite a while in their house as decoration but decided to sell it , they also knew nothing about it, if anyone can tell me more especially what it is , I would very much appreciate it .

A bit of history ive found on this vase/flask - it was sold at potburys auction room , sidmouth, devon uk, to the pottery where I found it ..
also found that Donald Tapster passed away in 2012 , he taught art at Holyrood College, Chard, where he was head of Art..he has links to Scarborough! Not sure why yet??
Donald was a known artist and some of his pictures have been listed on the net.. as far as the pottery goes I still haven't found any others, he must have made more pottery as this is a very good example and very well made .
im still trying to find more but the info is very limited !

Don Tapster was an art master at my grammar school, Bury At Edmunds, 1960's
As well as an excellent art teacher he directed many theatrical performances.

      StJoan,
Many thanks for that bit of history , do you remember him ever doing any pottery??
He possibly may have done pottery as a hobby..

Our school had no pottery studio, and I was not aware of this skill he possessed.
He taught 'O' and 'A' level art. He was very talented in a wide range of painting mediums. He also spent a lot of time directing theatrical productions. This was in Bury At Edmunds, Suffolk
