The first photo is of a Texaco sign I found on craigslist for 400.00, I called immediately and it was already spoken for but was promised second in line if they didn't follow through. Then I started doing research on it and couldn't find another like it which leads me to believe it's a Repop. The second photo is one that sold at Mathews auction for over 11,000, and the third photo is a sign on Etsy right now for over 5,000. If you compare all three they all have different size T's in the center but the thing that the second and third sign have in common is the size of the REG. U.S. PAT. PEND. The sign in the first pic has the smallest T in the center and the REG. U.S. PAT. PEND. Is much smaller. I think the one in the first pic is not genuine because I can't find another like it anywhere. And there are examples of the other two signs everywhere. If anyone has any info on the first sign in pic one I would appreciate any feedback
Great Addition and pristine shape
I didn't get it kerry10456 I thought it was a fake. I posted it with two other versions I found online that I know are genuine. Hoping to get some info on it as to if it's real or fake.
I'd say real.... it's the same font style"T" as the decals on my 1938 Chevy pickup, which are orginal and almost faded away... but same. The 38 has never been redone and bone yard stock
maybe you'll get the second chance, but again the curved sweep bottom on the T is also correct
Real sign, 3 different versions of this sign made, I've had two of them. These signs were single sided and mounted back to back in the frame, whoever got it got a steal, easily a 5k sign.
Heres a restored one of the same version offered for sale in 2009
