I bought this old rocking chair at a auction today. Can't seem to find makers mark on it anywhere. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

If the picture is accurate the chair is worthless but could be sold for 2 or 3 hundred. I love this type stuff. There is one born every minute.

What do you mean if the picture is accurate?
    3. fhrjr2 fhrjr2, 11 years ago
Look for a moment at the picture. Look at the very top of the back. The left side is far more elevated than the right side. If this was original it would be even. Suckers love odd items whether they are original or not and this isn't.

Must be the angle of the picture. I just measured it and it's exactly the same both sides.

Well it is what it is but it is nice.

Do you know who the maker might be? I've looked at several and the only ones it resembles is a yugoslavia

These were in every department store in America a few years ago. When did you ever see an antique chair with a color decal? Antique? Nope. Vintage? Nope? Old? Depends how old you are. Old relative to what? If you got it for $20 you did well.

Hi, Kelly79. I am new here. Sorry if I fumble around! I have a rocking chair almost identical to yours. Would u b kind enough to provide the length of the runs; how high the chair is, and width and depth of the seat? My seller referred to it as a "Big Ben" chair.
The measurements on mine: 4' high; arm span 31-3/4"; depth of seat is 21" and 23" wide and 2" thick; runs are 35" long.
Like yours - there are no names or ID marks of any kind. Frustrating, huh. Have a fun day.

Agree with fhr-- modern rocker made in great numbers.

Use it and enjoy but don't ever expect a payday with it.

Check out the name of heywood Wakefield, I have some of those pieces very similar primitive inspired. I love mine! These chairs can sell for anywhere between $200-500 are highly sought after and made with quality you just can't find these days! Great score! Keep it, these continue to go up in value! ????????

I have this same chair. It was given to me in 2000. It belonged to a friend's grandfather but I am not sure of its origins or its age.

I have this exact chair my mom brought it for me 37 years ago. I know it is called the Boston rocker but I do not know who it was made by. Good luck!

I have a similar rocking chair and it was purchased in the Indianapolis area (around 1950s). The only difference is that the seat is two tone wood. The larger slates and dimensions are commonly linked with modern furniture.
