Sklo Union was an umbrella organisation for a number of Czech Pressed Glass factories during the occupation. The marketing, sales and export were done by Glassexport.
The Czech pressed/moulded glass of the period is notable for strong design, well made moulds and skilled glass makers. This range of products, known as Hobnail, was designed in 1964 by Jurnikl, a prolific and accomplished designer.
The design came in a short/flat vase, a tall/square vase and a small bowl/trinket dish, shown here. There was also an ash tray (the small bowl with cigarette rests at each corner) and a long/low jardiniere.
The shapes are geometric, but rounded. The hobnail relief is deep. The smooth sides are wonderfully tactile.
stunning !!!! love this sklo:)
Thanks SEAN. I doubt there are many who share an interest in this stuff!
Love Sklo -- Thanks for Posting!!!
Isn't Mid Modern Design ( for anything) all the rage right now?? Which should include Glass Decor!

Thanks, aghcollect, Gracay, mikelv, geo26 and vetraio.
Got this pattern myself and really love it! I have the same vase as your green but in clear, and the pattern is so good it looks great in clear or coloured glass. I envy you having the others!
Wonderful, racer... you make four. I think these designers produced some amazing effects using a very basic process, with no added decoration!
Thanks inky for loving
