Great bit of WGP here!
Love the colours and especially the texture!
You know I love me my WG pottery! This one is no exception
thank you vetraio50, racer4four, and AmberRose! i think it's older than my other pieces. i like it because it reminds me of my paternal grandfather who died in '74. he had a big, victorian home filled w/ african art and modern furnishings like this one and other very elegant pieces of bertoia, knoll, etc...
i just found one just like this, except about half the size: http://ginforsodditiques.com/carstens.662.wgermanpottery.html
Carstens Tönnieshof Vase
Wow that is a keeper. Colors, texture, very nice...
It reminds me of an AlFaraz...
Thank you Artistinside. i agree that it's a keeper. the size of it is really substantial, which i like. so many of the fat lava pieces are smaller when you see them in person, whereas this piece really fills up the space beautifully. i wasn't familiar w/ Alfaraz Pottery until you mentioned it. it reminds me [somewhat] of Bufano - one of my favorite artists of the 40s-60s.
