CHALET Art Glass marked on the bottom. Canadian Art Glass. Vibrant orange with fluid twists on it. About 12 inches tall, and 7 inches wide at the widest point.....and one heck of a chunk of glass............weighing in at almost 8 pounds. I believe these came in 3 different sizes
This hunk of glass weighs the same as some New Born Babies.......LOL.......But this is My Glass Baby!!
Love it!!
Twisted barley sugar!
I need to get me some Chalet Glass....
As a Canadian I grew up with this glass all around me. Every Mom and at least one piece usually sitting on a coffee table, the table in front of the chesterfield. I speak for myself in saying this but had no appreciation of Chalet glass until I started collecting glass myself.
There used to be a restaurant here in Toronto that had a huge window in which it displayed shelves filled with Chalet. It really was a sight to behold especially on sunny mornings.
~~ Thanks for the loves!!!

@ Mac63 - Yes I agree with you. EVERY Canadian home seemed to have one of these on the coffee table as we did on the farm too. I liked it when I was little as I thought it was pretty. Now with the Retro theme more popular for decorating these are sought after.
Also down in Cornwall a few years ago Debra Patterson put on a show to showcase this unique glass (I was invited but could not attend). She also has wrote some books about Chalet Glass and has been instrumental in documenting history on this wonderful Glass. Yes, I know about her Forum at:

....and YES, there is a direct connection with this Art Glass and Art Glass makers that immigrated from Murano to Canada. Interesting Read for those that want to learn more about Chalet Glass (and/or) the Murano connection. Murano Art Glass is Murano.....and Chalet Glass is Chalet glass from Canada made by Italian Glass makers that immigrated to Canada from Murano and made this country their home.

Yes, it is Time Chalet Glass gets known for it Beauty -- all over again!!
I had never heard of Chalet until recently I came across it while trying to find the horse I just posted. The pieces I found on the web were Chalet in this color and glowed green under blacklight !! I saw no signs of uranium glass in them under white light.Have you tried lighting this up ? I try all of my glass and have been surprised several times
