Silver on one side for subtraction and division. Gold on the other for addition and multiplication. I think this is some early form of calculator, but i can't make heads or tails out of it. The top pulls up which makes the numbers move, but they are so small that i can't even read them. This thing probably would have helped me in grammar school, but now it's just an ancient relic. kind of cool though... i'm not even sure what category it falls under.
hey this is a very special item! this is a very early one from the early 1920s - one of the very first and best calculators, from what i can gather online. gazillions were made up into the 1970s when texas instruments came out w/ the first electronic ones. there are plenty of museums who'd like to have this one, from what i can gather. that's kinda cool.
i haven't found out for certain when the patents were applied for, but i'm assuming it's around 1920-21. i could be wrong though. regardless, it makes this a very interesting piece.
