These are 6" tall and approx. 11" wide (from memory), and are a vivid red, which looks orange in the right light. They have a thin casing of clear flass. The word "Czechoslovakia" in very faint letters is one one of them; that's the only mark I could see (cataracts). I got them at auction back around November.
They are not subtle by any means... in fact, they announce themselves with great fanfare. I welcome comments, and any info regarding these will be greatly appreciated. They were represented as Loetz by the auction house, which has a quite good reputation.
Welcome to CW! What beautiful compotes! The colors are gorgeous. I don't know if they are Loetz, as there are many makers of Bohemian Tango glass, but they are a very nice pair. They are not a Loetz form I personally I have seen before, but you can see examples of typical Loetz acid stamps on Tango glass here: https://sites.google.com/site/loetzandglass/loetz-4--tango-glass-1 - it may help you in determining if they are Loetz or not. There is also a good article on Tango in general on this site at https://sites.google.com/site/loetzandglass/tango-glass--the-great-unknown. I hope you enjoy your lovely set! :)
Hi Michelle, I've visited most of those sites, hence my hesitancy in ascribing a maker to these. I have some other Lötz pieces which I will post pics of, by and by. B)
