This hand fan seams to be made of wood and some sort of stiff fabric. I believe it´s handpainted and I thought it was a spanish flamenco hand fan, after searching the net. But I've been answered it's from China. I think the black and the flowers are very nice.

Thank you Racer4four! I'm glad you said lady and not ' little old lady' when I look at my posts I think people might think I am an old lady and I'm not, not yet :-). I just like old stuff. Yes, in the summer I can fight the heat with style!

I had a quick look as well and couldn't find anything similar, mostly found all with material on them... I looked under vintage Chinese (made in Hon Kong) lacquered wooden fans...sorry!...:-)

Thankyou Inky for love and for taking your time to look for me. I see what you mean but when I search 'spanish wooden hand painted hand fans' I see quite a few that are similar to mine. I don't have the answer but do believe that this fan is at least vintage. It has part of a label or pricetag left on the side of the handle and it looks quite old, not new. The flowers are most likely handpainted and have a softness in them that I don't see in the chinece new once. But fans are probably quite hard to be sure about age.

      I have 2 like this one.Each different colors .1 red 1 black.
In answer to your question do I collect fans. YES...lol. I love them. I see them as art and have many on my walls both old and new. Some of the new ones from China are very hard to tell their age, especially the paddle type fan. I have quite a few old ones 1940's paddle fans but the material on them is quite delicate.
yours is I believe a new one. They are hand painted in China for the tourist market.I got mine for a few dollrs new at an Asian Market place.
      They are very pretty indeed

Thanks! Then mine is not vintage, I thought it was because the label looks old and the handle looks very used. Still like it though. Thanks for your information.

When comparing this with the newer one I think yours maybe 70's or 80's. The wood near the pivot part does look old but then again may have just been well used.Either way it is still beautiful

I love these type of fans and use them in the summer for sure. I have a red one very similar to yours, I don't actually know if they are old or new. My guess is the newer side, but I still love them.
