This is the first post of my small collection of G.A.S. silver bracelets. This one has a vine leaf pattern, marked with Austrian silver marks, 800, and maker's mark.
The silversmith Georg Adam Scheid (active 1882-1911) is best known for the quality of his silver and enamels. Based in Vienna, he was at the centre of the Fin de Siecle artistic circles. One of his 5 daughters married artist and designer Josef Maria Auchentaller of the Wiener Werkstätte, and anoter married Victor Thonet from the famous furniture firm. He worked designs for the WW designers such as Auchentaller and Kolo Moser, but he also worked classic and historismus styles. All his pieces are marked G.A.S.
So very beautiful, I'm moved! Silver craftmanship at its best!
Thanks, Elisabethan, it is indeed a very fine piece! & thank you all for the loves.
Wow! This silver work looks like tapestry!
