I found this old guy at an estate sale . . . Who is he? He is made out of ceramic, appears the piece is very old.

    Any ideas?

I think Churchill fromthe way hs is holding his hand and the side view. ?

I'd say Churchill too. Although his most well known photos don't have him decked out in medals, he certainly had them. Churchill was also a member of the Order of the Garter, which this little fellow is wearing (blue sash and star pined under his medals).

      Hi Younglisa.
Looks like Churchill to me too :)
May i ask if you know what kind of ceramic it is?
Its hard to tell from photos, & how big?
i wondered if it was chalk ware, from the white showing through.
      Also is it painted?

      Hello!

He is small about 10 inches . . . Most likely made from chalk and painted . . . Missing cigar . . . I no longer have him, so can't be sure, but my research told me he was a rather old French chalk piece.

Hi Lisa, thanks for the info. Id have guessed chalk but its not always easy to tell from photos. Interesting it was French, it looks so like Churchill.

      Thanks for your comments vintagefran!

Not sure . . . I think French chalk by when I looked it up . . . It is Churchchill, maybe the type of materials used is the chalk?
