I picked this desk up a few years ago for the house, but can't figure where to put it after it is refinished. I have no history regarding the desk, I have not been able to find any information or pictures of one that is similar. As you can see on the right side the top of the desk lifts up to allow for something to be placed in the slot. The space is not square but narrows towards the rear.

The desk is 5 ft wide, and 32 in deep, all but the back 6 inches of the top os sloped. It has 6 legs, four drawers, plus the lift up panel and appears to be oak.

Any ideas or comments would be appreciated aswell as information of a sight that provide more information.

    Thanks you in advance.

Looks to be an early drafting table, the covered area would have had a special insert for holding pens, pencils, triangles, inkwells pencil sharpeners and other tools need.
If you look bottom center of the top you'll see where an area was covered most of the time...........this my also have been used by a cartoonist or illistrator (SP)

You may be right, but the it seems kind of small and low for drafting. I would have guessed accounting desk, with the cut out area being a place to set one of the old style adding machines. But it would be purely a guess.
