    Hi,
this box is approx. 10.5" tall by 13" square. The lid is very heavy, heavier than the bottom half. No idea what this is. Any ideas?

Size and design look right for a reliquary box.

Thank you for that information. I will take a look and see if I can find a similar one.

The basic design of a sarcophagus shaped 'tea caddy'. I think this is an imitation of a Regency caddy that would have had a zinc lined interior. The space within was divided in two for two different types of tea. The original caddy would have had ivory veneer on the body and lid too.
The expression "caddy" comes from the Malay Chinese "kati" meaning a measure of tea weighing about a pound and one third.

      Hi,
I have never even heard of this. I just pulled some up on google and it looks like them but it is not a hinged lid. It comes completely off. Does that matter? Thank you for your help!
