Putting out an APB for information on this one. It looks so familiar, yet so different. Every maker I try to attribute it to, I come up with a reason why it isn't that maker. It "feels" like either Kralik or Otto Tham/Fritz Heckert, but I can find neither the exact shape or decor attributed anywhere else. It was sold to me as a Kralik vase.

    Here's what I do know:

Colorless glass ground beneath a dark emerald green outer layer, which has been crackled and blown out into shape, then heavily iridized. The grooves left by the cracks are filled with a silvery blue iridescence. Near the bottom, where the cracks almost smooth out entirely, the iridescent silver/blue lines remain.

The rim is fire polished (and ever so slightly irregular), and there is a nice ground and polished pontil on the bottom. There is a ring of wear around the outer edge of the base, which has been ground and polished flat. It photographs very dark, so see the third photo to get an idea of the color. I welcome any help with nailing down an attribution.

Warren, have you look into Gebrüder Funk & Co? They did a soft crackle. I have some images I can send you - some vases with labels. Kairomalte mentioned them in a post on CW regarding soft crackle, and it intrigued me so I started looking into them.

Sorry - it was GlassHappy who actually posted about GF: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/56653-mystery-glass

Michelle, I associate GF mostly with deco-era cased glass - they were formed as a company in 1909... I think this piece pre-dates that by at least five to ten years.
