I bought this awesome red lamp today, I'm not sure exactly what it is or how old it is. It has two light sources, one in the bottom and one in the top, only one works. It looks like it's supposed to mimic an oil lamp or maybe was an oil lamp converted. I would like to know if anyone has an idea of age or what exactly this lamp is called. It has no identifying markers except near the upper bulb a turning switch that says "success" that seems to have no function. Thanks for any feed back.

my guess is it's a Bulls-Eye Parlor Vase Oil Lamp. These are very often seen these days listed as 'Gone With The Wind' (GWTW) lamps. There is one currently listed on eBay with this reference in the description:

"The following description from Ron Gibsons Book " 19th Century Chamber Lamps" Page 155: Like both Berry and Poppy, Bulls Eye is another lamp creation of Kopp's that is more readily available in red (cardinal) satin glass. It stands apx 24 inches tall with a 10" top globe.Bulls eye came on only two satin color ways red (cardinal) satin background with clear red bulls eyes and amber satin background with clear amber bulls eyes. Both came with the same brass plated cast iron foot and spill ring trim sets. However the amber is very very rare and quite difficult to locate."

this one does appear to be a converted to electric, which can be done without damaging the original lamp; hopefully that is the case.
