Very nice trunk complete with trays, I was surprised that they even built this odd design. 1887 JH Farel Patent Trunk.

Very nice find if I do say so myself. Funny how the same builder varies the trunk by using different hardware -- your latches are nicer than mine and yours has the fingering across the front. The slats used are a bit different too -- I suppose that what makes these trunks pieces of craftsmanship -- each one unique. Not a very practical design. Thanks for the post!!

Jim, Evidently there were very few of these manufactured. The only ones I've seen like this are yours and Trunkman's. Truly one of the most interesting trunk designs I've ever seen!!
