Hello Collectorsweekly Users:
I'm in possession of one very nice Porcelain Doll (un-named, but I call her Betty). The following text and corresponding pictures are representative a brief synopsis of what I know:
The doll is approximately 12 inches tall, and in very good condition. There were only 5,000 of these made, in which this Doll is #536 as indicated on the product. This is a Betty Jane Carter Doll; Copyright 1987 House of Global Art. This particular Doll has a music box that is fully functional. The mold, according to my Doll Expert is an Antique Reproduction: K?R 117A (Mein Leibling Closed Mouth). The dress is an Orange Color with White Lace; however, it looks more of a salmon color to me.
That is about the extent of what I know. Would anyone care to add information or estimate this dolls worth? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

She does not look like K*R ? is her neck marked ? It would say Simon Halbig under K*R ( K -star-R)
K * R 117n Mein Liebling (which stands for My Darling). Beautiful early doll with Flirty eyes, they moved side to side
Incised on back of head K * R Simon & Halbig 117n Germany 62. From the Kammer & Reinhardt character series.
I don't think she is a reproduction of her if so marked and then stamped or signed by company also . I would need to see mark , Mein libling had a open mouth also . Where did they come up with the name ?
Newer contemporary doll and the limited editions were just a come on to get people to buy dolls and think they would increase in price . That did not happen.
Yours looks like any number of dolls put out by House of Global Art. just doll faces not reproductions of origial antique dolls .
Is there some place other than here, and online where I can get information such as intrinsic value? It's not marked with anything other than what I said. The "K * R 117n Mein Liebling" is something my doll expert was talking about.
First I think you need a new doll expert and since these dolls have not warrented a book about them ( Modern Porcelain) your best resource will always be looking to see what they sold for . I do wish you success in your business but to be honest these dolls will not sustain a business alone not enough collectors for them. The doll is NOT a who expert said she was I assure you she is not a copy of a antique doll just a face made to resemble some artists impression of a doll face .
Most important to know on Reproductions or copies they used old molds and they will always be impressed with original makers name on back of head and then legally whoever copied it has to put their name and date on head .
Even reproductions sell low 10-30 dollars , Some of these modern porcealin dolls sold for high dollar 60-300 but no more . You really do need someone near you that can appraise them and not the one who said this was a Repro of Mein Liebling doll. If anyone ever saw a Mein they would not think she was a repro . I am in doubt of that person's ability to help you and may be steering you wrong .
I won't tell her this, of course. I may have misinterpreted what she said. As for intrinsic value. I have not paid more than $5.00 for my dolls, so I'm perfectly happy with a $25.00 margin. Additionally, I wouldn't be very smart to rely on the testimony of one individual, and I intend to get other opinions than just yours and hers. I'm very impressed and most pleased with you, however. My doll expert is 66 and has also been affiliated with UFDC. She has disagreed with you on some instances, as well. That's not important; I'll sort it all out in do time. I'm mostly just trying to learn as much as I can.
I don't have a Doll Store. I just buy, sell and trade before I run out of space. I like porcelain mostly...
I was member of UFDC for many many years my credentials are posted and my best friend Regional director of UFDC several times . You can be a member and not know a lot .
I stand by what I say . If I don't know answer I will say not sure in case of your posts I am sure . Glad I could help a bit but suggest you follow the direction you want to go . I can not nor do I have time to ID so many dolls . Like I said I have other interests also . I wish you the best

Here is the K * R 117n Mein Liebling original . Yours looks nothing like her
I wasn't going to say anything else as to these "Modern" style dolls, but just can't help but notice, When answered ...your response is that of value. Read the guidelines as you post an item...."Don't ask for appraisals" This is Collectors site, not an appraisal service for someone only interest is to turn a buck. And another small tid-bit that seem odd, you have made point of representing yourself as "Marketing & Web Design Spec", but seems odd to me all your photos have been taken at the local library, where your using public access computer...Hmmmmm
I research my products at the library, and interact with the population while I do so. The library is a great source of information, and a great place to meet people who also seek information. If I continue to meet hostility here, I will gladly find a new venue. This website is for collectors? I thought it was part of the World Wide Web; My Bad.
Oh, and by the way, I have a LAPTOP in my brief case. Thank God to WiFi... I can travel all over the world, and never lose a beat. Go figure.
