Found this at Volunteers of America thrift store this afternoon. It has a wonderful mid century look to it. The top looks almost modern but the base seems more traditional. The elongated top panels alternate clear and frosted "pear" shaped inserts. It's 12" across by 7" tall . There are a few bubbles and imperfections in it and it does have a nice bong when you tap it. So I'm fairly sure it's lead crystal. I'm not sure who made it. There is the remains of a clear label on the side but it's yellowed and the writing is long gone. It's in nice condition though. No chips or cracks to be found.

Update 3/22/2016... I was at Savers and I found this pattern on another bowl with a clear importer's label from "Crystal Clear Importing Co. Inc. Mouth Blown Crystal Made in Romania. " They've been in business since 1961 and are still active. So mystery solved after all these years.

Thanks nutsabotas6 :) This was actually on the shelf with the metal kitchen ware. Don't know why maybe someone just decided they didn't want it at the last minute. Their loss !
Mystery finally solved after two years. Spotted one at Savers with and intact label. The label would have read "Crystal Clear Importing Co. Inc. Mouth Blown Crystal Made in Romania." Now that I knew what to search for I spied this one Etsy.

What a beautiful piece of crystal, Mike! I'm so glad you found out even though it took this long, nice to have your mystery solved. :)
Thanks Katherine....this is a unique design and it has nice quality too. Had a hunch it was Euro from the get go :)
