Found this beautiful pitcher at a sale but I can find nothing like it on the web. It doesn't help that I cannot read the signature. I have included both directions of the signature because I am unsure which way it really goes. I am puzzled the whole way around by this pitcher. It is a smooth stone texture outside and inside but then as you can see, at the bottom is a line where it looks like ceramic. Is there a stone overlay that goes over ceramic that looks like this? And does anyone know who the artist may be. It is well worn with pitting but has a very good energy about it.
It's McCarty pottery of Merigold Mississippi. Plenty of info if you google it, kind of an interesting history as I recall.
The dark line on the rim is deliberate btw, not a glaze flaw.
Thank you art.pottery! You solved the mystery. I enjoyed learning about the McCarty Pottery! Never would have figured that signature out! Beautiful stuff.
