    I purchased this chair a couple weeks ago from thrift store....the cushion is removeable and the bottom is the same material as the back...i think it is called caining...not sure....was told that it may be 1600's or so.

      Reproduction , A original would have hand carved wood also and yours looks like it was machine carved . Nice decorator piece .
