It's an awesome feeling to hold a true antique in your hand from another century! In researching the hallmarks on the bowl / dish, I believe it is Dutch silver .833 dish is from 1848. The hallmarks are as follows: L*M / lion passant 2 in a hexagon /helmet (letter not legible) / "O" (see pics). It measures approximately 6.5"l x 3.9375"w x 2" tall I am so curious how much it is worth and what it's intended use was. Any information or input you could provide would be great! TIA

.833 silver, usually European std is .850?
all I know, which isnt much is that the std for Germany was 750 in very old are but they dropped the std I thought. They did adopt 800 and 833 like the Dutch so that matches up as correct.
Does it have a ledge? Its had to see in your. If it does then I would suggest an ashtray...
But if its reflection then a Salt perhaps?
