A traffic detour this morning on my way home sent me by our local Salvation Army thrift store. So I figured fate must be telling me something and this is what I came home with. This lamp is huge and heavy. It's 32" to the top of the arrow finial and weighs at least 8- 10 lbs ! The body is painted enamel with brass accents and maybe some base metal that gives it it's heft. The thick frosted glass shade is 12" across and has a wheat sheaf pattern with brass trim. It probably makes up half the lamp's weight. The sockets are snuggled up inside it in an"S" shape design. It looks very vintage. The whole thing was a little loose and wobbly and needed tightening. The middle urn section was badly scratched and I did a very light touch up with spray paint. Turned out quite well and matched the base perfectly after I carefully cleaned the yellowed nicotine haze off the paint. I didn't want to damage the gold painted design either. I haven't tried it yet. Kind of interesting that the switch is on the base. I need some chandelier bulbs. I think frosted ones will look nice and match the shade too. There was no label or makers mark but I'm thinking maybe Stiffle -Mike-
beautiful!!
It's sorta awesome Mike but which cat is going to knock it over?
Thanks Karen :).... it does have an odd charm about it. It's unusual that's for sure. As for the cats one's too old and the other is too fat. Plus you'd need a bulldozer to knock it over....lol
