If a Origianl Cabbage Patch Kid , Xavier Roberts made first ones 1976- 1978 and should be signed by him . If not it is not a original made by him , Without holding it had to tell by your photo it could be a homemade one also as they were made by Moms also during the craze of them .They were originally called "Little People". The original dolls were all cloth and sold at local craft shows, then later at Babyland General Hospital in Cleveland, Georgia. The doll brand went on to become one of the most popular toy fads of the 1980s and one of the longest-running doll franchises in America. Many companies took over producing them Coleco had longest run mass producing them in the 80's as Cabbage Patch kids .

Phil I have seen a baby-in-a blanket doll crocheted blanket with a doll in it .
Many Moms made dolls back in the day when sewing was cheap. Now material is expensive and I'm not sure you would save money making your own vs buying . Lots of Flower sack dolls were made too :-) The flour came in printed material and was always saved to make something including quilts . xoxo

In France were called "poupées Patouf".
If signed, where is the mystery?

Trying to get a rough idea of the value of the doll, it was before Mr.Roberts started the birth cert. with dolls so hard to get an idea.

He will always retain value unlike the Coleco ones .
